Introduction

The HERE GNSS Data API v2 is an HTTP REST API that provides real-time Assisted GNSS (A-GNSS) data to improve the performance of GNSS receivers. The HERE GNSS Data API makes it possible to:

  • Shorten the time needed to get the first GNSS-based position estimate (TTFF).
  • Achieve continuous position tracking with much weaker signal levels.
  • Reduce power consumption by reducing the time it takes to calculate the current position.

The HERE GNSS Data API provides A-GNSS data for the following satellite systems:

  • GPS (Global Positioning System)
  • GLONASS (Global Navigation Satellite System)
  • Galileo (Galileo Navigation Satellite System)
  • BeiDou (BeiDou Navigation Satellite System)
  • QZSS (Quasi-Zenith Satellite System)

The data is returned in the standard LPP ASN.1 format as defined by the 3GPP LTE Positioning Protocol (LPP) specification.

Note

Using this API requires familiarity with GNSS positioning technologies.

The HERE GNSS Data API supports the following use case:

  • GNSS assistance data is used to shorten the time needed to get the first GNSS-based position estimate. The data is provided to the GNSS positioning engine of the client device. The positioning engine uses this data together with the raw GNSS measurements received by the device's GNSS receiver.

Note

The HERE GNSS Data API is not included in the HERE Base Plan.
