Map filters and selection methods

The ADZ web app lets you select map segments via three different modes, as well as filtering the map based on attributes.

To use a selection method, click the dropdown menu at the top right.

Direct/segment selection

The Direct selection mode lets you select one or more preexisting segments. In this mode, you can click directly on a segment to add or edit an attribute. With a segment selected, click Insert at the bottom left to begin adding or editing attributes.

Polygon selection

You can select an area with a custom polygon in the Polygon mode.

Click and hold a spot on the map until a blue circle appears. You can then begin click elsewhere on the map to create the polygon. Continue to click on the map to draw the polygon. To finish the polygon, click the point where you began the polygon.

When the polygon is configured as you like, click Insert at the bottom left to begin adding or editing attributes to segments in the area of the polygon.

To remove the polygon, right-click on the map and then click Clear selection.

Admin area selection

Use Admin area selection to apply attributes across a large administrative area, such as a state, province, or country.

1. Select Admin area from the selection dropdown.
2. Choose the administrative area you want to update.
3. Review the selected area on the map.
4. Click Insert at the bottom left to add or edit attributes for segments in the selected area.

The following example shows an admin area selection for highways in Illinois in the United States.

Attribute filters

To apply attribute filters to a map, click the filter icon next at the top right of the window. From here, you can select various Map Attribute and ODD filters.

Filter logic

Map attribute filters use various operators and Boolean logic to offer more precise and granular filter control. Different filters use different logic controls based on their purview and areas of influence.

• Boolean filters operate on a standard true/false logic.
• Option filters let you select one or more predefined values.
• Variable filters evaluate single values or ranges using comparison operators. Available operators are:
  • = (equals)
  • < (less than)
  • <= (less than or equal to)
  • > (greater than)
  • >= (greater than or equal to)
