Introduction to HERE Geocoding & Search API v7

HERE Geocoding and Search enables you to create location-aware applications that allow users to search for points of interest (POIs), forward and reverse geocode addresses, and geopositions from the HERE map. It enhances location accuracy and context by precisely converting and discovering geocoordinates, POIs, and addresses.

With HERE Geocoding and Search you can:

  • Retrieve addresses and global POIs across more than 400 categories and address objects at various levels (house number, street, city, state, postal code).
  • Search for addresses or places using the /discover and /geocode endpoints using free form text in queries.
  • Use structured, unstructured, and hybrid queries with the /geocode endpoint.
  • Find geocoordinates of an address, place, locality, or administrative area ranked by relevance or proximity, even if the query is incomplete or partly incorrect.
  • Enable automated suggestions during text entry, including places, addresses, chain queries, and category queries.
  • Request reverse geocoding with the /revgeocode endpoint to find the nearest address using map coordinates or a selected spot on a map.
  • Conduct searches using filters such as category (food, airport, park), with results sorted by distance from the context center.
