Creating and managing metadata

The metadata API endpoint is deprecated.

A device or geofence can contain descriptive information stored as metadata. This information is not a part of the geofence definition or the device shadow, but is required when integrating the Tracking backend with an external system.

Examples of metadata could be an icon of a device that's shown on a web interface, or a human-readable name of a device.

Metadata is managed via the metadata endpoint.
