How to use virtual devices

A virtual device is a tracking device that does not communicate directly with the HERE Tracking API. The data ingestion happens on behalf of the device, by the device owner.

A virtual device can be, for example, either a real IoT device in an external cloud, which does not have an embedded HERE Tracking API authentication, or a software application emulating a real device.

See more information on HERE Tracking API supported device types.
