How to manage groups
Groups are a collection of identities (user or app).
When managing groups, be aware of the following:
- Any identity (user or app) can create groups.
- The identity that creates a group becomes the group admin for that group.
- Org admins and group admins can manage who has access to the group and can delegate group admin permissions to other identities.
- Group admins can only administer those groups for which they have admin permissions.
- Org admins can manage all groups, even if they haven’t been explicitly granted group admin permissions.
Limits
There are maximum limits to follow, as shown in the following table:

Create a new group
To create a new group, follow these steps:
- Sign in to the HERE platform.
- Select the Access Manager from the launcher.
- On the Groups tab, click Create New Group.
- Enter a name for the group (group names don't have to be unique).
- Enter an optional description.
- Click Save.
Manage members (user or app) of a group
You can manage members of a group by adding or removing an identity, and managing group admin permissions.
To add an identity (user or app) to a group
To add an identity to a group, follow these steps:
- Sign in to the HERE platform.
- On the Groups tab, click the group to which you want to add a user or an app. The group page appears with a list of users and apps.
- Click Add to group.
- Enter the name of the user or the app in the search field to find the desired name or app.
- Select the desired name or app and click Add. The group page appears with the new app or user.
To remove an identity (user or app) from the group
To remove an identity from the group, follow these steps:
- Sign in to the HERE platform.
- On the Groups tab, click the group in which you want to remove a user or an app. The group page appears with a list of users and apps.
- Click the ellipsis menu to remove the user or app. A Remove From Group button appears.
- On the popup dialog, click the Remove button to confirm. The group page displays.
Manage group admin permissions
Only org and group admins can change identity (user or app) permissions. Org admins can change identity (user or app) permissions on any group. Group admins restrict changing identity (user or app) permissions for only those groups for which they have admin permissions.
To change group admin permissions, follow these steps:
- Sign in to the HERE platform.
- On the Groups tab, click the group in which you want to change group admin permissions. The group page displays with a list of users and apps.
- Click the ellipsis menu to change group admin permissions for the user. The Make an org admin option appears if the user isn't presently an admin. Selecting the option immediately changes the group admin permissions for the user.
