Extremely high temperature
| Region/Country | Description |

| US | Excessive heat occurs from a combination of high temperatures (significantly above normal) and high humidities. At certain levels, the human body cannot maintain proper internal temperatures and may experience heat stroke. The "Heat Index" is a measure of the effect of the combined elements on the body. |
| EU | Expectation of significantly higher than average temperatures in one or more regions of England and Wales; thresholds are pre-determined regionally via the Heat-Health Watch system During the summer months (June 1st to September 30th) whenever the forecast humidex is expected to reach or exceed 40 C, a humidex and health advisory is issued for the affected forecast regions. Humidex Advisory is issued when temperatures are expected to reach or exceed 30°C and the humidex values are expected to reach or exceed 40. Humidex values represent the effect which high humidity and high temperatures have on the human body. The higher the humidex, the harder it is for perspiration to evaporate and cool the body. Humidex of 40 or more for at least two consecutive days. |
