Obtain variants by make and model

After you selected a specific vehicle make and model, use the /makes/{makeId}/models/{modelId}/variants endpoint to retrieves all available variants for that combination. Each variant typically represents a different battery configuration (for example, 40/60/80 kWh options) and has its own unique profileId.

Prerequisites

  1. Browse available manufacturers and save the selected manufacturer's id as {makeId}.
  2. List models by make with that {makeId}, then save the selected model's id as {modelId}.

Use the {makeId} and {modelId} values together in the variants request. For example, use renault and kangooVanETechElectric to retrieve variants for the Renault Kangoo Van E-Tech Electric.

Understand the profileId parameter

The profileId is a crucial identifier used by the HERE Tour Planning API to map specific vehicle variants to their distinct performance profiles. This ID dictates essential characteristics such as efficiency curves, battery capacity, and recharging behavior for a particular model configuration. Selecting the correct variant (and thus the corresponding profileId) is vital; an incorrect selection can lead to inaccurate range estimations or suboptimal stop scheduling in tour plans.

Retrieve vehicle variants for a make and model combination

Get all variants for a specific make and model combination, as shown in the following example, which retrieves all available variants for the Renault (make) and Kangoo Van E-Tech Electric (model) combination:

Request example

curl "https://evprofiles.tourplanning.hereapi.com/v1/makes/renault/models/kangooVanETechElectric/variants?apiKey=YOUR_API_KEY"

Next steps

  1. Browse the list of vehicle variants and then select the profile that matches the vehicles in your EV fleet, saving the profileId value for use in Tour Planning API requests.

For example, if your Kangoo Van E-Tech Electric consists of the double cab variant designed for people transportation, select the variant with "profileId": "190".

  2. Use the selected profileId when planning tours to accurately reflect the specific EV's capabilities in the Tour Planning API, ensuring more realistic and optimized routes for your EV fleet performance.

    Note

In the HERE Tour Planning API, use the ID as the evProfileId parameter value.

For a practical demonstration on how to create tours for EVs that include profileId for accurate power consumption and range estimation, see Plan efficient routes for EV fleets in the HERE Tour Planning API Developer Guide.
