Introduction to the Fleet Optimization Package

The Fleet Optimization Package consists of REST APIs bundled together to create standardized solutions for your fleet management requirements. This package includes best-in-class location enablers for dynamic route optimization such as geocoding, tour planning, car and truck routing, and map rendering. This allows you to offer optimized tours, driver navigation, and operational metrics to lower costs, improve delivery efficiency, and increase revenue.

The Fleet Optimization Package allows you to create tours that take into account job constraints, such as multiple time windows, pickups and deliveries, job priorities, and job territories.

  • Define your fleet - Your fleet contains different types of vehicles, and those vehicles have related constraints that need to be considered, such as:

    • Types of vehicles: car, truck, scooter, and so on
    • Number of vehicles in your fleet
    • Start and end points for each vehicle
    • Demand and capacity
    • Skills, such as can a vehicle transport fresh or cold goods
    • Is the cost per vehicle a fixed cost or cost per km
    • Shifts and rotations for vehicles in your fleet

  • Process jobs - You may have anywhere between 100-20,000 vehicles, and each vehicle/driver may perform 10 (middle mile) to 100-150 (last mile) jobs per day. This package allows you to map the addresses of those jobs to increase the accuracy of your plan.

  • Create routes and display on map - Drivers need to have routes from A to B, as well as for their whole tour, in order to execute jobs efficiently. Dispatchers also need to see individual tours, as well as an overview of all tours for the whole fleet in order to monitor their progress.

  • Update route ETAs - Due to traffic conditions and other unforeseen circumstances, the situation on the road can change, so it’s important for drivers and dispatchers to know the latest ETA.

  • Re-plan tours - You may need to create fresh tours based on changed operating conditions, such as actual amount of vehicles and jobs, traffic, or because they have a new job coming in during the daytasks:

    • Select specific tour and modify with incoming transport order
    • Manage the sequence of orders along with the new order of specific tours
    • Re-plan all tours with final selection of transport orders
