API access for Traffic Analytics

A REST API for submitting Traffic Analytics queries is also available. Its usage pattern is identical to website-driven queries: first submit a query, then poll for completion over some number of minutes or hours, and finally download the results using a provided URL. It doesn't enable finer-grained access to the Traffic Analytics database than the website does. For access to the Traffic Analytics API, contact your HERE account executive.

The Traffic Analytics API adds an option for specifying the area of interest using an arbitrary polygon, which isn't available through the UI. Instead of specifying an administrative area from the HERE Map by name or ID, you can provide a polygon outlining the area of interest. For example, when dealing with a metropolitan area that spans administrative boundaries. Traffic Analytics returns all the information it has on all the road segments within the polygon, or that cross its boundary. Polygons must be smaller than a country, and must lie fully within the geographic area covered by your Traffic Analytics license.
