Introduction to HERE Style Editor

HERE Style Editor is a browser-based tool that lets you customize HERE map styles for map views. It exposes map style attributes in an intuitive way, so you can experiment, iterate, and refine without writing code.

Why customization matters?

Across industries, there is growing demand to adapt the base map experience, so it aligns seamlessly with the application or service it supports. Customization enables:

  • Brand integration: embed corporate colors and design language directly into the map.
  • Use-case alignment: highlight the elements most important for logistics, mobility, automotive, or consumer apps.
  • Uniqueness: for example, automotive manufacturers can create unique in-car navigation experiences that stand apart from competitors.

By tailoring map appearance, organizations ensure the map becomes a natural part of their product experience rather than an external element.

Part of HERE ecosystem

The Style Editor is part of the broader HERE platform and is available on platform.here.com. All you need is a HERE account, and the tool is free of charge to use - no additional contracts required.

Map styles created with the HERE Style Editor are compatible with the following HERE products:

  • HERE SDK Explore and Navigate (from version 4.12.1)
  • HERE Maps API for JavaScript (from version 3.1.31.0)
  • HERE Navigation (contact your HERE representative)

This ensures styles can be applied consistently across web, mobile, and embedded navigation applications.
