Supported browsers and platforms
The Maps API for JavaScript is designed specifically for modern browsers that support WebGL, functioning seamlessly on both desktop and mobile environments. To ensure widespread compatibility, the API is optimized for a diverse range of platforms and browsers.
The following table illustrates the support offered by the Maps API:
Supported with optimizations
| Browser | Environment |
|---|---|
| Microsoft Edge (latest) | Desktop |
| Firefox (latest) | Desktop |
| Google Chrome (latest) | Desktop, Android 9.0+ on mobile/tablet (provided that the device supports hardware acceleration) |
| Apple Safari 15+ | Desktop, iOS 15+ on mobile/tablet |
Note
Only 64-bit architectures are supported.

Hardware requirements
The following are hardware requirements for the Maps API:
- HERE recommends at least 8 GB of system memory.
- Handling complex applications may necessitate increased memory and improved CPUs. Additionally, GPUs and hardware acceleration play an important role in performance in both physical and virtualized settings. Ensure the hardware, including the GPU and drivers, remain supported by the manufacturers.
- For virtualized environments, the following is recommended for minimum performance:
- At least 2 virtual CPUs (vCPUs) per user.
- Physical GPU in the host server with allocated virtual GPU (vGPU) resources for each user.
