Introduction to HERE GIS Data Suite Cellular Signals

HERE GIS Data Suite Cellular Signals provides a representation of mobile cell tower signal strength as both a linear measurement along road segments and polygon representations of signal strength relating to specific cell towers and antennae.

HERE Cellular Signals incorporates multiple pieces of information associated with the network, including coverage, carrier identification, signal type (3G, 4G...), strength and frequency. The data shows the networks active in any location and supports visualization by coverage area, carrier, signal strength, network type, and other segment attributes. You can visualize by coverage area, carrier, signal strength, type, and other attributes related to the coverage area of segment.

Use-cases for HERE GIS Data Suite Cellular Signals include:

  • The identification of coverage along the road for voice communication and mobile data connections and operation.
  • The comparison of vendor cellular networks by signal strength to assist the competitive analysis of carriers in a location.
  • A tool assisting in the measurement of signals to assess network performance and planning.
  • Supporting better communications between dispatch and delivery drivers.
  • Assessing phone usage and movement patterns for law enforcement and national security operations.
