Major roads feature class (Major_Roads)

The Major_Roads feature class is a subset of the Streets feature class where FUNCTIONAL_CLASS equals 1, 2, 3, or 4 and part of the Major_Roads_FD dataset, along with the Major_Roads_1 and Major_Roads_2 feature classes. The Major_Roads dataset has fewer fields to improve redraw speed.

STREET_NAME	String (100)	STREET_NAME is a cartographic label for each street segment, the full street name of the segment including the abbreviated street type, prefix, and suffix, for example "Fred St S". Where multiple names exist for a street segment, the data includes the one most likely to be useful for cartographic display of highways as identified where possible.
LANGUAGE_CODE	String (3)	Standard code for the language associated with the feature name using Latin character set.

LANGUAGE_CODE_LATIN	String (3)	Standard code for the language associated with the feature name.
FUNCTIONAL_CLASS	Integer (4)	The functional class of street segments defines the segment's role within the hierarchical street network and determines logical and efficient routes in routing applications. Available values are: FUNCTIONAL_CLASS = 1 roads allow for high-volume, maximum-speed traffic movement between and through major metropolitan areas. FUNCTIONAL_CLASS = 2 roads channel traffic to class 1 roads and support high-volume, high-speed traffic movement. FUNCTIONAL_CLASS = 3 roads interconnect class 2 roads and provide high-volume traffic movement at a lower mobility level. FUNCTIONAL_CLASS = 4 roads provide high-volume traffic movement at moderate speeds between neighbourhoods. FUNCTIONAL_CLASS = 5 roads are below other functional classes for volume and movement and include walkways and special-purpose roads.
RAMP	String (1)	Ramps are connectors that provide access between roads that do not cross at grade. Y - Ramp N - Not a ramp Ramp = Y is also valid for roads connecting controlled access roads (motorways and freeways).
TUNNEL	String (1)	Indicates if the street segment is a tunnel. For this purpose, a tunnel is a covered passageway through or under an obstruction. Y - Tunnel N - Not a tunnel Tunnel = Y applies when the tunnel is longer than 200 metres/656 feet. The data includes smaller tunnels where significant.
ISO_COUNTRY_CODE	String (3)	ISO 3 character country code.
NAME_ROUTE_TYPE	Integer (4)	The route type indicates that the road's name is actually a route number.
