Railways feature class (Railways)

The Railways feature class contains railroad features as polylines. The key attributes include the name of the railway and if the railway goes onto a bridge or through a tunnel.

Field name Data type Description
CARTO_ID Integer (4) Defines a unique ID associated to the railway line
NAME String (100) The name of the railway line
LANGUAGE_CODE String (3) The language associated with the feature name
NAME_LATIN String (100) Name of the railway line, using Latin character set
LANGUAGE_CODE_LATIN String (3) The language associated with the feature name, using Latin character set
FEATURE_TYPE Integer (4) Standard HERE Feature Type code for railway features
FEATURE_TYPE_DESC String (50) Description of the feature type, such as RailRoad
TUNNEL String (1) Indicates if the road segment is a tunnel. For this purpose, a tunnel is a covered passageway through or under an obstruction. Available values are:
  • Y - Tunnel
  • N - Not a Tunnel
The value returns as Tunnel = Y when the tunnel is longer than 200 metres. This can include smaller tunnels where significant
BRIDGE String (1) Indicates if the rail segment is a bridge. For this purpose a bridge is a structure that allows a road, railroad, or walkway to pass over another road, railroad, water feature, or valley. Available values are:
  • Y - Bridge
  • N - Not a Bridge
The value returns as Bridge = Y when the bridge is longer than 200 metres/656 feet. Smaller bridges included where significant. Overpasses/underpasses receive Bridge = N
COVERAGE_INDICATOR String (2) Indicates a product level that corresponds to the inclusion of database features. It also indicates verification and completeness for a particular feature in the database. For a list of possible values, see Coverage indicator definitions
DETAILED_CITY String (1) This attribute specifies whether the railway is part of a Detailed City coverage area.
  • Y- Polygon fully part of DETAILED_CITY coverage area
  • N - Polygon fully not DETAILED_CITY coverage area
  • P - Part of the polygon is DETAILED_CITY coverage are, part of it isn't
ISO_COUNTRY_CODE String (3) ISO 3 character country code
