Overview

Map Creator is the crowd sourcing map editor from HERE.

Using Map Creator, you can:

Add new roads
Edit existing roads
Add or update places
Add house numbers
Add and edit building outlines
Report map issues

Map Creator is available as:

Desktop Application (web browser)
Mobile Application (Android and iOS)

Getting started

1) Open HERE Map Creator

2) Click “Sign In” and set up a HERE account (if you do not have one yet).

3) Activate your account by clicking on the link in the activation email (make sure to check your spam folder if you do not see it).

4) Sign into Map Creator.

5) Zoom to the area where you want to make changes or use the Search bar to find an area.

6) Edit the area: add new roads, places or house numbers or update existing areas or report map error that cannot be fixed through the editor.

Editing Maps with Map Creator Desktop

To customers connected to Map Creator for Desktop, you can edit roads, places, house number and buildings using Editing Tools and using “Feedback” section where you can report other map errors that cannot be fixed through the editor.

Main Tools

Search Bar: Used to locate an area you want to edit.
Edit Toolbar: Provides editing tools for creating and updating map features.
Object Panel: contains editable objects and support layers
Right-Click Context Menu: Provides additional editing and management options.

The editing toolbar contains: Undo, Save and Cancel.

Reporting Map Errors

If an issue cannot be fixed using the editing tools:

1. Click Feedback button in Footer at the lower-right corner of the page.
2. Select the location.
3. Submit the map issue report.

Editing Maps with Map Creator Mobile

Customers connected to Map Creator mobile version (available in the stores for Android and iOS) can edit roads, places, house numbers activating the Edit tool.

To edit a feature:

1. Activate the Edit tool.
2. Select the map feature (click upon the object you would like to update).
3. Update the information.
4. Submit the edit.

Reporting Map Issues

You can report a map error by clicking on the button in the top toolbar:

1 Add place

2 Add house number

3 Add traffic sign photo

Tracking Your Contributions

Desktop Version

Use "Your Stuff" from Service Bar (black vertical bar on the left) to access information about personal statistics and map creator contributions (refer to Statistics and Your feed respectively), and to follow up on the submitted feedback resolution (refer to Your feed).

Tap “Your Feed” to review the submitted edits.

What Happens After an Edit Is Submitted?

To ensure the data quality, all content created or modified in Map Creator is verified before integration using automated processes and manual checks by our internal experts.

Once approved, edits are incorporated into the HERE map database and included in future map releases.

The time required for updates to become visible may vary depending on the feature type and the consuming product. The time usually takes a few weeks.

Support Features

Your Geospace functionality in Map Creator desktop

To support edits, Map Creator offers the possibility to visualize your own geo files within a tool called “Your Geospace” (available at Service Bar – black vertical bar on the left).

The supported formats include: GeoJson, KML, GPX, Shapefile or CSV.

Collect Tool in Map Creator Mobile

Map Creator Mobile provides data collection tools that support map validation:

GPX
Audio
Photo

Collected data is uploaded and can later be viewed through Your Geospace in Map Creator Desktop.
