How to obtain the Chile map approval by DIFROL?
How to get the Chile map approval by DIFROL?
All producers/importers of map products for Chile market should comply with official cartography established by the Dirección de Fronteras y Límites (DIFROL). Producers/publishers should seek approval from DIFROL prior to commercializing the product. This agency implies a process of revision, corrections and final approval of each map that represents Chile territory. Any company that imports maps must comply with this process to be authorized to commercialize and distribute map products in the country. Publishing Approval is valid only for the current database release. Every single release of product needs an individual approval. Companies need to request re-approval in case of changes at borders or other areas of DIFROL interest. The approval obtained is not transferable. HERE cannot represent customers in this process.
Note
If the customers decide not to display borders, the process will be faster. However, they must also obtain approval from DIFROL.
What is DIFROL interested in?
International administrative borders and ocean water polygons.
Named Place POIs and Hamlet POIs (Admin Names)
Border Crossings
Inclusion of all Admins 1-4 (Country, Region, Province, Commune)
Procedure
The law is specific to paper maps so DIFROL requires:
Map data submitted in shapefile format with all layers.
An Application Letter.
* An overview Map of Chile.
Starting in Q2 Quarter Release, HERE invites companies seeking approval from DIFROL to submit their applications at the same time. A joint application should simplify the approval process and improve coordination with DIFROL in the event DIFROL requests any changes to the map before granting approval.
On the other hand, companies that do not choose to submit a joint application with HERE and are seeking their own approval, should start the approval process as soon as they receive the map data from HERE to facilitate the approval process. The approval process should occur prior to compilation.
