Permanent Geocoding – Overview, Licensing, and Usage Rules

Summary

Permanent Storage Plans for Geocoding Services allow customers to store and reuse Geocoding results beyond the default 30-day retention limit defined in HERE Platform terms.
These plans include permanent storage rights for eligible geocoding transactions and do not introduce any new APIs, endpoints, technical functionality, provisioning mechanisms, or metering features.

The capability is governed by the licensing terms associated with the applicable subscription plan.

Can geocoding results obtained from HERE Geocoding services be stored permanently, and what licensing requirements apply?



Default Storage Rules

By default, HERE Platform terms restrict the storage of geocoding results outside the platform for more than 30 days.
If you need to retain geocoding results beyond this period you must subscribe to a Permanent Storage Plan for the applicable geocoding service.



How Permanent Storage Plans Work

Permanent Storage Plans for Geocoding Services are dedicated HERE Geocoding Transaction Plans that include permanent storage rights.

These plans allow you to:

Store geocoding results beyond 30 days
Retain geocoding results indefinitely
Reuse stored geocoding results internally within their organization

Permanent Storage Plans use uplifted transaction pricing that includes permanent storage rights for all transactions processed under the plan.
You are charged for the right to permanently store results generated through the plan, regardless of how many results are ultimately retained.
There is no separate metering, counting, reporting, or billing of stored results.
Permanent storage rights are a licensing entitlement only and do not modify the functionality of HERE APIs.



Supported Services and Plans

Permanent Storage Plans are available through dedicated versions of the following Transaction Plans:

For a given capability, you must choose either the standard plan or the corresponding Permanent Storage Plan.
Standard and Permanent Storage Plan variants of the same capability cannot be included in the same subscription.
For seller-assisted quoting, Salesforce quoting flows are designed to prevent selecting both variants of the same capability within a single quote.



Usage Restrictions

With Permanent Storage Plans, you may store and reuse geocoding results internally.

You may not:

Resell, sublicense, or redistribute stored geocoding results
Share stored geocoding results externally unless explicitly permitted under their HERE agreement
Use stored geocoding results to provide services to third parties unless expressly authorized

All usage remains subject to the applicable HERE licensing terms and commercial agreements.



How to Obtain Permanent Storage Plans

Permanent Storage Plans are available through eligible HERE Geocoding Transaction Plans.
If you are interested in obtaining a Permanent Storage Plan, please contact your HERE Account Representative or HERE Sales representative.



Examples

Allowed:

A logistics company subscribes to a Permanent Storage Plan and stores geocoded customer delivery locations in its internal operational systems for long-term use.
The company may retain and reuse those results indefinitely for its internal business operations.

Not Allowed:

A company stores geocoding results and exposes those results through a public API or distributes them to external customers.



Important Notes

Permanent Storage Plans are a commercial offering that includes permanent storage rights and are not a technical feature.
No new APIs, endpoints, provisioning mechanisms, or metering capabilities are introduced.
Without a Permanent Storage Plan, you are subject to the default 30-day retention limitation for Geocoding results.
The functionality of HERE Geocoding services remains unchanged regardless of whether a customer subscribes to a Permanent Storage Plan.
