Symptoms / Triggers

You may need this article if you experience one or more of the following when signing in to the HERE Platform Portal:

  • Error message during HERE Platform Portal login:
"Invalid request: Exceeded the maximum number of authorization codes that can be created at any given point"
  • Login page refreshes or redirects repeatedly
  • Clicking Sign in multiple times results in login failure
  • Login fails after opening the HERE Platform Portal in multiple browser tabs
  • Login fails after refreshing the browser or closing a tab during sign-in
  • Login failure occurs after a temporary network interruption
  • Issue persists even though username and password are correct

Quick Answer

This error occurs when too many OAuth authorization codes are generated in a short period of time.
Close all browser tabs related to HERE login, wait a few minutes for existing authorization codes to expire, then sign in again using a single browser tab or a private (incognito) window.

Why this happens

The HERE Platform uses OAuth-based authentication.
For security reasons, the identity service enforces a limit on how many active authorization codes can exist for a user at the same time.

This limit can be reached when:

  • Multiple login attempts are triggered in parallel (for example, repeatedly clicking Sign in)
  • The HERE Platform Portal is opened in several browser tabs or windows at once
  • A previous login attempt is interrupted (page refresh, tab closed, browser closed)
  • Browser extensions, SSO helpers, or corporate security software automatically retry the authorization request

When the limit is reached, new authorization requests are temporarily rejected until existing authorization codes expire.

    Step-by-step resolution
  1. Close all browser tabs and windows that are accessing:
  • platform.here.com
  • HERE Marketplace
  • HERE account or login pages
  1. Wait several minutes to allow existing authorization codes to expire automatically.
  2. Open a clean browser session:
  • Use a private/incognito window, or
  • Restart the browser completely

  1. Sign in again using one tab only and avoid refreshing the page or clicking Sign in multiple times.
  2. If the problem continues, temporarily disable browser extensions, especially:
  • Privacy or ad blockers
  • SSO helpers
  • Corporate security or traffic‑inspection plugins

What this issue is not
