RIMP network Spain. Mandatory use for trucks carrying HAZMAT.

RIMP (Red de Itinerarios de Mercancías Peligrosas) is a mandatory road network for trucks transporting hazardous materials (HAZMAT) within Spanish territory. If the origin or destination of the journey lies outside the RIMP, vehicles must enter this network as soon as possible and exit at the point closest to their destination. This minimizes the time spent outside the designated network.

In Spain, there are very few, if any, road signs indicating preferred routes for all types of trucks. For HAZMAT transport, the obligation to use the RIMP network is established by law, but this regulation is generally known only to professional drivers and companies licensed to carry hazardous goods.

The RIMP network is coded in the HERE database as a condition = “Preferred Route” applicable exclusively to HAZMAT trucks. Content customers can use this information to display the RIMP network and incorporate it into their engines to calculate compliant routes. Customers using the HERE Routing API engine will automatically benefit from correct RIMP routing when the vehicle is flagged as carrying HAZMAT.
